After over 30 years of reform, Vietnam has achieved remarkable results, earning the appreciation and recognition of the international community as a model of a successful transforming economy.
Vietnam’s economic growth from 2007 to 2017 averaged 6% per annum. Its GDP growth reached 7.08% last year, and 6.76% in the first 6 months of 2019.

According to the Asian Development Bank’s projection, Vietnam would be the fastest growing economy in South East Asia in 2019, with a growth of around 6.8 %. Domestically, defense, political stability, order and social safety have always been assured.
Vietnam has established strategic partnerships with 16 countries and comprehensive partnerships with 11 countries. These include the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council, the entirety of the G7, and 16 of the G20 member states.
Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung also noted the rising role of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at international and world arenas including the UN, APEC, ASEAN, ASEM and WTO.
Vietnam has been elected for the second time as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure with an astounding record: 192 out of 193 votes.
The ambassador also highlighted the comprehensive cooperation and special solidarity between Laos and Vietnam.
“Vietnam stands firm in our appreciation of the Vietnam – Laos relations, having always regarded the people of Laos as brothers, comrades, and the dearest and most loyal friends of Vietnam,” said the ambassador.
“The two countries are making determined efforts to promote the Vietnam – Laos comprehensive cooperation with added depth, substance and effectiveness. Our two nations have long stood shoulder-to-shoulder in the struggle for independence, freedom and national unification. Now, we must pursue continued joint efforts for the development of both countries, and the maintenance of our countries’ peace, territorial integrity and independence,” added Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung.
