(KPL) The 7th ordinary session of the National Assembly’s 8th legislature was closed on Tuesday’s afternoon.
Several issues have been considered and approved at the three-week session along with recommended measures for the government to implement the socio-economic development plan and an adjusted state budget plan for the last six months of 2019.
Addressing the closing ceremony, the President of the National Assembly Pany Yathortou noted that the members of the National Assembly accepted the measures the government had developed to address issues related to the repeated issuance of land deeds, and approved the government’s report on reforestation and tree plantation efforts as well as human resource development in priority subjects including agriculture, pedagogy, and nursing.
People’s representatives also approved the government’s plan on the supervision of sectors and local administrations at all levels, and its request for the multi-Lao ethnic people to overcome economic and financial difficulties, and continue to implement effectively policy, socio-economic measures to address public management and governance hurdles of government sectors according to established laws, and fulfill an adjusted state budget plan for the second half of the year.
They also approved the appointment of Mr Khampha Sengdala as President of People’s Supreme Court and Mr Vidong Xayasone as a Minister to Prime Minister’s Office.
The meeting also considered a report of the government on the enforcement of court rulings and approved a report of the President of the Office of the Supreme Public Prosecutor on the supervision of law enforecement by invesitative bodies.
Ten laws and amended laws were also approved at the session. These included 6 laws in economic area, and two in socio-culture areas.
