National Assembly President Pany Yathortou delivers closing remarks at the 9th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly in Vientiane on Jul 2, 2020
(KPL) The 9th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly’s 8th legislature wrapped up last Thursday following the approval of revised growth targets and amendments to five laws and other document of national importance.
Party Secretary General and State President Bounnhang Vorachit, and other Party and government leaders, and NA’s members were present at the closing ceremony.
Held between Jun 24 and Jul 2, the 9th Ordinary Session of the current legislature of the National Assembly approved a resolution on the implementation of the national socio-economic development plan, state budget plan, and monetary plan for the next five months, downward adjustment of macroeconomic, trade and investment targets for the last six months of the year.
“The meeting appreciated the government upon its close attention to and efforts made in implementing preventive and containment measures against Covid-19 in the country in an effective and prompt manner,” said President of the National Assembly Pany Yathortou.
The National Assembly urged the government to speed up translating into legal instruments targets, policies and measures stated in the resolution of the 9th Ordinary Session of the National Assembly’s 8th legislature, and direct efforts to stabilizing macro economy, exchange rate and inflation rate, and fulfill targets set for revenue collection plan, and create favourable conditions for foreign investment.
Members of the National Assembly approved amendments to the Law on Customs, Law on National Assembly, Law on Provincial People’s Councils, Law on the Election of Members of National Assembly and Members of Provincial People’s Councils, Law on Water and Water Resources, and Law on Environmental Protection.
They asked the government to attach greater attention to directing relevant authorities and local administrations at all levels to pay attention to monitoring the exploration and mining of mineral resources and the exploitation of aggregates and cliff stones according to relevant regulations to make sure such exploitation is conducted in a sustainable manner.
