(KPL) Prime Minister signed a decision today declaring the exemption of income taxes for public and private employees whose monthly income is less than 5 million kip for three months (April-June 2020). 

The document also exempts micro enterprises from paying income taxes, as stated in Article 29 section 2 of the Law on Income Tax No. 67/NA, dated 18 June 2019, for three months starting from April 2020.  

Import-related duties, taxes and fees are also exempted for all kinds of goods to be used in suppression, prevention and preparedness efforts against covid-19.

Deadlines for tax payment by tour enterprises have been extended by three months beginning this month.  

Prime Minister Thongsloun Sisoulith also called on relevant sectors to take into account possible suspension or reduction of the prices of public utilities – electricity and water supply – for households and businesses, and approved proposed reduction of the primary interest rate of the Bank of the Lao PDR and the compulsory deposit ratio of commercial banks.
