(KPL) Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith received on Friday a courtesy visit from China’s State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi as the latter was on an official visit to Laos to attend the Special ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) and the 5th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers’ Meeting between Feb 19-20.

Prime Minister Thongloun told the guest that his visit to the Lao PDR to participate in the two major events contributed significantly to enhancing the longstanding friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Laos and China according to the four good directions – good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners.

The Party and government of the Lao PDR attach importance to the implementation of the master plan on the building of a community with a shared future between Laos and China signed by President Bounnhang Vorachit and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in April 2019.

The premier also highly valued the successful meeting between Mr Wang Yi and his Lao counterpart Saleumxay Kommasith as both sides exchanged in a straightforward manner points of view on the cooperation between the two countries under bilateral and multilateral frameworks, and preparations for the 3rd Mekong-Lancang Summit scheduled for March and the official visit by Chinese premier Li Keqiang in late March.
